In most senses, the Virginia domestic violence arrest process is similar to a standard arrest. That answer will be conveyed by the 911 operator to the responding police officer. That police officer will follow department training, as well. He or she has been trained to approach any family violence scenario as a volatile situation where the officer must be ready to use a weapon against anyone who threatens the safety or well-being of the officers or others at the scene.
Comparatively, if the 911 operator is able to tell the officers that the accused person has left the home and is not present, then the police arrive much less wary of imminent violence. This is safer for the officers as well as those remaining in the home. It is also safer for the accused. Remember, it is not against the law for someone to leave the home after the police have been called.

Speaking To The Police
The first step of the police investigation is to make a report. The police will record basic information, such as the date and place of the crime, the names of the people involved and a short summary of what happened.

Depape ‘came Here To Have A Little Chat’ With Nancy Pelosi
Once the scuffle ended, San Francisco Police officers asked if anyone else was in the house. DePape allegedly said he acted alone. He looked at the glass door and allegedly said that was where he broke in. The laminated glass was broken near the door handle.
Police found a cellphone, cash, clipper cards for San Franciscos transit system and an unidentified card from the right pocket of DePapes shorts. When they asked for his identification, he allegedly said it might be in his backpack on the back porch, near the broken door.
In the backpack, police found a second hammer, a laptop and more bags of zip ties. The backpack also contained a journal, roll of tape, white rope and two pairs of gloves, one rubber and one cloth. A day later, during the search of a Richmond garage where DePape was staying, FBI agents seized two hammers, a sword, motor vehicle paperwork, IRS letters and Paypal credit cards.
DePape allegedly explained to officers and medics at the scene what he tried to accomplish.
Im sick of the insane f—— level of lies coming out of Washington, D.C., DePape said. I came here to have a little chat with his wife.
‘Heartbroken and traumatized’:
DePape allegedly admitted he intended to take Nancy Pelosi hostage and break her kneecaps if she lied to him. Then she could be wheeled into Congress, which would show other members of Congress there were consequences to actions, according to court records.
DePape said hurting Paul Pelosi wasnt his goal.
