Police Academy Alabama Requirements

To become a police officer in Alabama, you must first complete a police academy training program. The Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission sets the minimum requirements for police academy training in the state. To be eligible to attend a police academy in Alabama, you must: Be at least 19 years of age Have a high school diploma or GED Have a valid drivers license Be a U.S. citizen Be of good moral character Have no felony convictions Have no misdemeanor convictions involving domestic violence After completing a police academy training program, you must then pass a state-administered certification exam.
