Request A Police Incident Report Copy Online
Request and receive all types of San Francisco Police Incident Reports through an online portal. Report types include traffic collisions, domestic violence and all other incidents of general crime. Using the portal is the most secure and convenient way to request and receive incident reports from the San Francisco Police Department. An account can be created within the Incident Report Request Portal to track the request and receive reports and correspondences securely online.
Traffic Collision Reports: Before attempting to obtain a copy of a collision report, please allow a minimum of five days from the date of the collision to allow the report to be reviewed and approved for release.

Summary Of Presentations And Discussions
On September 17-18, 2013, Public Safety Canada and CPKN partnered to bring together 100 participants from various police services across the country, provincial representatives, police board members, frontline officers and union representatives to discuss police education and learning in the context of the Economics of Policing. As police services strive to be more efficient and effective, they must consider how they deliver all of their services including how they educate and train their officers.

The Economics of Policing: Police Education and Learning Summit was structured around theme-based discussions which focused primarily on presentations by individuals from the police training sector. Requesting A Police Report In Person
1. Gather the required materials.
Bring with you a form of identification like a drivers license or passport. If you are making the request on behalf of someone else, you will need to have a notarized letter with you. Most agencies require a small request fee. If you were directly involved in the incident whether as a victim, witness, or defendant you may receive a verification slip from the authorities to let you know that a police report has been filed. Bring this slip with you to exchange for the police report.
2. Visit the Records and Identification Division of the police department.
The Records and Identification Division may have exclusive hours throughout the day that are not your typical business hours, so be sure to verify online. They will ask you for your information, as well as basic information about the case. Then, they will take your payment to cover the request fee.
3. Retrieve the copy of your police report.
In some areas, you may have to pick up a copy of the police report in person, but some agencies may mail it directly to you. Either way, expect to pay a per-page fee for the copy of the report. Reports typically cost a total of $50 to $150.

How Long Does It Take To Obtain A Police Report
It typically only takes a few days to a week to get a copy of a police report if you were directly involved in the case. However, if you were not directly involved, or if you are an insurance agent, it will take longer because you have to send in a request and have it processed. This process can take up to a month or longer.
What Happens After I File A Report Online
- Upon submitting your completed report online, you will see the words Your online police report has been submitted indicating your report is complete.
- You will receive an email with a temporary case number until police have reviewed the report. Check your junk email folder if you do not receive the email in your inbox.
- Once a police officer has approved the online report, you will be notified and provided a permanent case number.
- The accuracy of the information you provide in the report greatly assists Peel Regional Police Service in investigating your incident. Please ensure the report is as complete and concise as possible.

How Can I Make Payment
For ease of administration, we recommend setting up a direct debit authority to pay your vetting charges. Direct Debit Authority forms are available on our Forms and Guides page.
We also accept payment by direct credit and online bill payment. In some circumstances you may be eligible to make a regular instalment arrangement call us on to discuss whether this is an option that may be available to your agency.

If no matches are found for your search, you will not be charged. If reports are found matching your search criteria, you will have the option to request one or more, with a credit card payment or subscription to InforME. Each report costs $10.00. The report will be sent to you via email. Most reports will be sent within two hours of your order. All search fees are non refundable.
If your crash occurred prior to 2003, the report may not be in the database. If no match is found for a pre-2003 crash, you need to submit a request the Maine State Police Traffic Division for a manual search. The fee to submit a manual search is $10.00, this fee is non refundable. If a matching report is found, it will be sent to you through regular US mail, fax, or email.

However, those requests will be manually entered and tracked in the Incident Report Request Portal by a member of CISU. You do NOT need to complete the Incident Report Request form if you submit your request via the portal.

Accident Report Prices Vary By State Investigating Agency
Motorists who are involved in an accident investigated by state police can now obtain a report online, but at $22, it will cost more than local departments charge.
However, some local police chiefs say a motorist shouldnt have to incur the expense of obtaining an accident report, arguing that the task should be handled by the company that insures the persons vehicle.
Police Chief John Otto said Penn Township assesses a $15 fee for a copy of an accident report an amount that most other area departments charge.
Otto is among chiefs who believe its unnecessary for most motorists to seek a copy of an accident report.
For a lot of people, its the first time theyve been in a car accident, and their insurance agent says, Go get a copy of the report, he said. They should let the insurance company do the work.
Derry police Chief Randy Glick agrees, noting 98 percent of the crash reports the borough issues are sent to insurance companies. He tells motorists who want a copy of a report to have their insurance provider take care of that paperwork.
The person shouldnt have to do that, he said. The average citizen doesnt even need a report.
The $22 fee state police charge for an accident report is mandated by law and applies whether the request is for a paper copy or an electronic version an option police made available in September, through the website crashreports.psp.pa.gov.

Anyone can request a crash report as long as the required information can be provided.
If a vehicle crash occurred in Massachusetts and has been filed and processed by the Registry of Motor Vehicles , you can request either a standard or a certified copy of the police crash report. Please wait at least 4 weeks after the crash before requesting a report.
You will need to pay a fee for the crash report. The fee is non-refundable even if a report is not found.
Why Am I Not Able To Obtain A Police Report
The most common reason why people cannot get a copy of a police report is because of an ongoing investigation. Once the case is closed, you should be able to obtain a copy.
If you believe you have been unfairly denied access to a police report, you may wish to have a lawyer speak to the authorities on your behalf. Juvenile records may sometimes be sealed or withheld to protect the privacy of the victim. Generally, though, the process to obtain a police report is relatively simple, depending upon who is trying to obtain the report.

Request Forms For Ca Family Code 6:
Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Stalking, Human Trafficking, or Abuse of an Elder or Dependent Adult
California Family Code § 6228 provides that victims of the alleged crimes, listed above, may receive a copy of their incident report within five days of their request, free of charge. Due to the sensitive information included in the reports, SFPD protocol requires in-person identification verification. Victims or their designated representatives must either submit their request in-person or pick-up their incident report in person at CISU Records Management. For a list of acceptable forms of identification, please refer to Section 2 of the Request for Police Report: Family Code § 6228 form.
Requesting A Police Report By Mail
The process of requesting a copy of a police report by mail is a bit more involved. In many jurisdictions, you are required to make your Public Access Request via mail. Typically, the agency will provide a form online for you to fill out, but some places are fine with you writing a letter to ask for the police report.
1. Figure out where to send the Public Access Request form or letter.
Your local police department may have a specific address and addressee for police report requests listed on their website. If they dont, simply address it to the Records and Identification Division, and use the general address listed online for the department.
2. Fill out the form or write the letter.
After you have found the location to send your request, you should be able to easily find out if they want you to send a request form or a letter. If the information is not readily available on the site, just call and ask which method they prefer. If it is available, filling out a request form is typically the easiest method because you wont have to worry about leaving out information.
If you write a letter instead of filling out the form, be sure to include the following information:
- Case number
- Your Name, Birthdate, and Address
- The date and location of the incident
- Your role in the case
- The officers name who filed the report
- What exactly you are requesting
3. Gather additional materials and send the form/letter.
