Arredondo, who was fired as school police chief in August, has said that he never considered himself to be the incident commander. He declined to speak to CNN multiple times in the days after the massacre, including outside his office on June 1 after he had been blamed as the officer in charge whose catastrophically wrong assessments caused the failed response.

In his only extensive public comments since then, he told The Texas Tribune: I didnt issue any orders I called for assistance and asked for an extraction tool to open the door.

Arredondos interview with investigators less than 24 hours after the tragedy and footage from surveillance and body cameras show he gave plenty of direction.

He described getting officers into a pyramid formation, all on the same side of the hallway, to avoid crossfire if the gunman came out of the door.

And when he tried the handle of the door to another classroom and found it unlocked with students and a teacher inside, he made the critical decision to save others first.

Were going to clear out this building before we do any breach, Arredondo told officers in the hallway at about 12:08 p.m., as heard on body camera footage. As soon as they clear this room, Im going to verify whats been vacated, guys, before we do any kind of breaching.

He went on: Times on our side right now. I know we probably have kids in there, but weve got to save the lives of the other ones.

What Are Criminal Conviction Records

Criminal conviction records are documents that detail events leading from complaint or arrest to the formal conviction of an individual in a trial court. These records are commonly known as arrest and conviction records by most state criminal justice institutions. Like all public records, criminal conviction records are available from the clerk of court in the court where a judge.

Court clerks generally maintain physical copies of the criminal conviction records. Criminal conviction records can be obtained in-person or by mail request, but these means are not always convenient or fast. Thus, most record custodians also store digital copies of criminal conviction records on online databases.

Fire Destroys Building For Children With Emotional Problems

BROWN COUNTY, Wis. – Firefighters have departed after battling a fire for nearly 11 hours at a business that helps children and young people with emotional and behavioral problems.

The scene is located at Macht Village Programs in the 3300 block of Mid Valley Drive in Lawrence.

A large amount of smoke could be seen from I-41 in Brown County. Drivers called to report the fire at about 6:30 a.m.

Upon arrival we got here there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building, Lawrence Assistant Fire Chief Luke Pasterski told us.

Crews attempted to do a primary search of the building but had to pull out as the building started to collapse.

There was no lights on. We couldnt see anyone inside. We attempted to put crews inside of the building to do a primary search for people, Pasterski said.

They werent inside for very long.

The backside of the building started to collapse and the crews immediately pulled out of the building for safety reasons, Pasterski said. As the fire progressed, more and more parts of the building continued to collapse.

We did get a call from a keyholder — a business owner — who confirmed there should be no one in the building at the time.

It was upgraded to a 3-alarm fire, meaning fire crews from all over Brown County were called in to help.

Crews moved to a defensive fight to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.

There are no reports of injuries.

Whats The Difference Between A Misdemeanor Vs Felony

The definition varies with jurisdiction, but in most states, a felony is a crime that carries a sentence of more than one year in jail. Colloquially known as true crimes, most jurisdictions consider felony offenses as the most serious of offenses. Thus, persons convicted of felony charges typically serve a sentence in a correctional facility under the supervision of the state department of corrections or the Federal Bureau of Prisons if the felony is a federal crime. The security level at these facilities is high, given the nature of the crime and the offender. Besides jail time, non-sentencing alternatives for felonies are typically punitive, and the conditions for parole upon release are strict. Common felonies include:

    • Murder in the first degree
    • Human trafficking
    • Multiple DUI or aggravated DWI, or drunk driving

Compared to felonies, misdemeanors are less serious crimes. In most states, misdemeanors are offenses punishable with less than one year in a county or municipal jail. If the offense is not serious enough for imprisonment, the court will impose sentencing alternatives like fines and probation.

In cases where the offense mandates jail time, the offender will serve time at lower security facilities at a county level rather than state facilities that are higher security. Some states even allow misdemeanor offenders to serve time at home under supervision. Common misdemeanors include:
