You can file a complaint about excessive use of force by a Metro police officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Citizen Review Board. If the Review Board finds your complaint credible it may forward the complaint to the Internal Affairs Division at Metro and you may have to testify against the officer.

North Las Vegas Police Department
There are two types of complaints that you can file against a North Las Vegas Police Officer. You can file an informal or a formal complaint. An informal complaint will be handled by the officers Supervisor, and if the allegations are serious enough, the Supervisor will refer it to the Internal Affairs Office. A formal complaint will go directly to Internal Affairs.

Las Vegas Officer Accused Of Drunken Driving In Police Car
A police officer is accused of driving his Metropolitan Police Department vehicle under the influence of alcohol, according to a report released this week.
A police officer is accused of driving his Metropolitan Police Department vehicle under the influence of alcohol, according to a report released this week.
An arrest report released Monday said that officer Michael Carrals department vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet Impala, was transmitting suspicious radio traffic on Sept. 3 around 12:30 a.m. Two sergeants went looking for the Impala, which police said should have been parked at a Metro area command.
The sergeants called Carral, who brought the Impala back to the station just after 1 a.m., but police wrote that he smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.
Metro declined a request for the radio traffic, citing an open investigation.
Carral admitted he was driving the Impala but declined to answer any further questions, according to the police report.
The results of the sobriety tests performed at the station were redacted from the police report.
Carral was arrested on a drunken driving charge. His case remains open in Las Vegas Municipal Court with another hearing scheduled for March 16.
Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield said Friday that Carral is still employed by the department, but is temporarily assigned to the records bureau.

LAS VEGAS — An officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department died this week due to complications from COVID-19.
According to the department, Officer Edward Contreras passed away on Tuesday at the age of 50 due to complications from COVID-19.
According to the agency, Officer Contreras served as an LVMPD officer for over 15 years. At the time of his passing, he was assigned to the Traffic Bureau day shift.
LVMPD added that Officer Contreras was a Marine Corps combat veteran who served in Somalia and Iraq.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Officer Contreras is survived by his wife Stephanie, his son Aaron, father Edward, mother Gloria, sister Monica, and his brother Michael, who is currently assigned to the LVMPD Traffic Bureau Fatal Detail, according to police.

Cause Of Death Released For New Haven Officer Killed In Las Vegas Crash
NEW HAVEN, CT – The Elm City is once again in mourning after an officer was killed in
Robert Ferraro, 34, was charged with driving under the influence resulting in death and reckless driving.
Investigators said Joshua Castellano died on Friday.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office said Castellano died of multiple blunt force trauma. His death was ruled an accident.
They said Ferraro was behind the wheel of a Rolls-Royce. Two other officers, identified as Matthew Borges and John Truhart, were also in the vehicle with Castellano and Ferraro.
Ferraro was said to have lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a couple of cars, utility poles and a fire hydrant.

Milli was a dedicated officer, committed to the service of both his community and his country. In the late evening hours of October 7th, 2009 Officer Beitels patrol car overturned after he swerved to avoid a citizens vehicle. Officer Beitel was ejected, causing fatal injuries. To be eligible for employment as a police officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and a US citizen, and have 20/20 vision . Candidates must not have been convicted of any felony crimes, more than one DUI, domestic violence or assault, or any other disqualifying crime.
Selected candidates become recruits, participating in 24 weeks of training at the police academy. Successful completion of the academy requires recruits to pass skills exams covering such areas as firearms training, fitness training, and defensive tactics. A Las Vegas police officer suspected of impaired driving told detectives he was taking Oxycontin and drank vodka before driving last week, according to an arrest report.
A Las Vegas police officer suspected of impaired driving told detectives he took Oxycontin and drank vodka before crashing his SUV last week, according to an arrest report released Tuesday.
Richard Chavez, 47, was arrested Oct. 25 and jailed on driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stop at the scene of a crash involving damage and failing to obey a red light, according to court records.
Officers were called at 7:49 a.m. that day to the intersection of East Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Bermuda Road after a report of a crash, according an arrest report from the Metropolitan Police Department.
Crossing guards told police that a black SUV collided with an Acura, and the SUV had left the scene. Detectives found the SUV and the driver, who identified himself as Chavez, in a nearby parking lot, the report stated. Chavez said the crash was his fault, according to the report, but gave police three different stories as to where he was going.
The report did not state whether the driver of the Acura suffered any injuries in the crash.
Police said Chavez speech was slurred and his breath smelled of alcohol, and that he told officers he was taking Oxycontin.
He had vodka to drink but stated he did not drink a lot of it, police wrote in the arrest report.
