Interview With Chief Of Police

The Chief of Police will interview candidates who are declared “Finalist” for the position.

After a conditional offer of employment is received, the candidate will be provided a medical examination form that the candidate will take to his/her personal physician. The candidate is responsible for the cost associated with this medical exam. A drug screening and a psychological assessment follows and will then be set up and paid for by UAH.

A formal offer of employment will be made by the Chief of Police upon successful completion of all requirements.

Person Dies After Shooting Huntsville Police Officer Wrecks On The Way To Scene

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. A Huntsville police officer was involved in a crash on the way to a shooting call Tuesday morning.

One person was shot at a residence on McVay Street and was transported to the hospital where they died from their injuries.

Huntsville Police said this is a death investigation but no charges are expected at this time. They told News 19, Its believed the shooting was in self-defense.

Officials said the case will be reviewed by a Madison County Grand Jury.

When the investigator was responding to the shooting call, they were involved in a crash with a citizen at the intersection of Bob Wallace Avenue and Triana Boulevard around 9 a.m. Both the officer and the citizen were not injured in the crash.

Huntsville Police Department closed the intersection diverted traffic to Long Avenue while the crash was cleared. They asked drivers to seek alternate routes.
