Associate Of Applied Science In Police Science
Building on the police science one-year certificate, the associate of applied science in police science coursework provides an intense focus on criminal law, criminal justice, American government, investigative techniques, self-defense, first aid and police operations.

The Statewide Transfer Agreement for New Jersey ensures that students who earn an A.A. or A.S. degree at a community college will have those credits fully transferable to a New Jersey public four-year institution, will have completed half of the credits required for a basic four-year degree and will have completed all of the lower division general education requirements. In addition, articulation agreements with private institutions may provide similar transfer provisions. Students should discuss the transfer process with an advisor.

Throughout the tristate area, a program in Criminal Justice-Police Science is highly regarded. Students examine both the legal substance as well as the legal procedure. The Police Science program provides training for careers in law enforcement as well as related fields in corrections, probation, security and community service. The program offers three levels of job-entry training, as well as an Associates Degree designed to enhance professional skills and qualifications. The job-entry training levels include the Reserve Police Officer Certificate of Achievement, Basic Peace Officer Certificate of Achievement and the Basic Correctional Officer Training Certificate of Achievement. These levels consist of the Peace Officer Standards and Training certified Module III, Module II, and Module I Basic Peace Officer Training courses and the Correctional Peace Officer Standards and Training certified Basic Correctional Officer course. Satisfactory completion of the POST Training requirements for hire as a Level-III or Level-II or Level-I Reserve Peace Officer or the CPOST requirements for hire as a Correctional Deputy establishes eligibility for hire in the State of California.
With the BPOT 001-Module III and BPOT 002-Module II or BPOT 003-Module I , a Police Science Associates Degree is attainable with an additional 18 units of required courses, 18 units of General Education, 3 units of electives, and 2 units of Kinesiology activity courses.

Direct Entry Bs Criminal Justice
This degree program seamlessly integrates an undergraduate and graduate degree in Criminal Justice, with an opportunity to attain the Masters Degree within 5 years of starting the Bachelors degree. Students who are accepted into this program will master the skills and scientific knowledge related to the roles, activities, and behaviors of people involved in maintaining law and order, providing needed services, protecting life and property, and planning and research. The students will be equipped to serve in leadership roles with law enforcement agencies, both federal and local.This combined degree program is available to qualified criminal justice/investigative services upper-level students as well. Two graduate-level courses can be taken during the junior or senior year. During the fifth year, students complete the MS degree by taking nine more CJST graduate-level courses and successfully passing a comprehensive exam. An alternative thesis track is available as well.
To qualify, students must apply for admission no later than two semesters prior to the anticipated fulfillment of the BS degree requirements, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 at the time of application to the 4+1 program, and submit one letter of recommendation by a criminal justice faculty member. A minimum grade of B is required in each of the two overlapping graduate courses.
What Will Students Learn If They Study Criminal Justice
Students examine both the substantive and procedural aspects of criminal law. Particular attention will be given to the functions of the courts and special emphasis will be placed on major U.S. Supreme Court decisions. Students who choose the Correction Administration degree option or certificate will learn about relevant trends with regard to correctional institutions, as well as sentencing, judicial treatment and correctional management philosophies. With the Police Science degree option, students will learn police procedures, constitutional law and community policing.

Each Unisa qualification is structured in such a way that you need to pass a certain number of NQF level credits within a certain amount of time in order to graduate.
- Co-requisite: Module A is a co-requisite for Module B. You want to register for Module B, but have not yet passed Module A. You must then register for both Modules A and B simultaneously. You may NOT cancel your registration for Module A unless Module B is also cancelled.

Pre-requisite: If Module A is a pre-requisite for Module B, you must pass Module A before you may register for Module B.
You may not register for more than the allowed maximum number of credits / modules per academic year and / or semester: 60 credits per semester or 120 credits per academic year.
The maximum number of credits do not include supplementary and / or aegrotat examinations from a previous semester. Modules taken for non-degree / non-diploma purposes also count towards the maximum number of credits allowed.
You must take your available time into consideration when choosing your modules, as this will impact your academic performance. You need approximately
