In 2014, an internal survey showed many Oakland cops felt that the internal affairs unit was too aggressive in going after the average officer, creating a culture of fear in the department.

How To Get A Police Report For A Car Accident
After you have been in a car accident, one of the first questions your insurance provider will ask you is do you have a copy of the police report? Obtaining accident reports is a similar process to the one above, but it is generally a bit easier because in most cases, there is no criminal investigation. If you are in a car accident, you will receive a slip with an incident number on it. Did You Fail To File A Police Report Within 10 Days After The Accident
After 10 days, you are still able to file a report by sending it through via mail. However, if you do this there are some things to be aware of.
In some cases, filing after the initial 10 days can result in criminal penalties. These include suspension of your drivers license.

How Do I Obtain A Copy Of A Police Report Or Other Record
Requests for copies of police reports, accident reports, or other police records are made directly to the Police Department by filling out a Public Open Records Request form and submitting it to the Police Department. The form is available online or can be completed in-person at the Police Department.
Once received, the form is reviewed by a Police Department Lieutenant who is specifically trained in Wisconsin Open Records Law. We will notify you if the record can be released, and when it will be available. There is a nominal fee for copies of documents.
