There is no one key attribute, skill or experience that we look for in candidates, instead its your overall suitability for the Police role that will improve your competitiveness. The recruitment process can take in excess of six months to complete and assesses key competencies encompassing intellect, psychological make-up, general fitness, work history, community involvement and medical and prior offence history.

Seven: You’re Almost At The Finish Line: Undergo A Field Investigation And Security Assessment
The final step in the application process is a field investigation and security assessment. The RCMP will conduct a thorough investigation into your background to help assess your suitability. If successful, you will receive your security clearance.

Two: Learn More About A Career In Policing: Attend A Career Presentation And Write The Rcmp Entrance Exam
Once you have been screened into the process, you will be invited to attend a career presentation and write the RCMP entrance exam.
During the career presentation, you will learn more about a career in policing and you will be able to discuss any questions or concerns you may have with a proactive recruiter.
The presentation will be immediately followed by the RCMP entrance exam. If you do not pass the entrance exam, your application will be closed. You may re-apply in six months.

You may be screened out of the recruitment process:
- if you do not have your vision and hearing assessments and vision and hearing forms completed
- as a result of the responses provided in your online application
If your application is screened out at this step, you must wait six months before re-applying.

The Application Process For Police Officer Candidates
It isnt easy becoming a police officer. Potential candidates need to go through a stringent application process designed to weed out those who dont have what it takes to become outstanding police officers.
Police officers help maintain peace and order and ensure that members of the community stay safe. This job comes with immense responsibility. The application process itself is not for everyone.
Canadian police agencies generally follow the same process which involves a series of tests, checks and interviews, including:
- A written exam
- A polygraph exam
- A background investigation
Some of these tests require detailed paperwork but minimal preparation. For some tests, like the physical tests, you would be best prepared if you did a fitness training program, prior to, depending on your fitness level. Other tests, like the polygraph exam, require no preparation at all.
Applicants can be declined at any point in the stages listed above and even if a candidate passes every stage, an offer of employment is not guaranteed.

Federal Police Force Salary & Benefits
If youre interested in the federal police force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police offers new hires $53,144/year with an incremental increase to $86,110 within 3 years of employment. Benefits include paid vacation days, an RCMP pension plan, medical, dental and family health plans and group life insurance. The RCMP also offers generous maternity and parental allowances as well as financial support for continuing education and professional development opportunities.

People Who Can Work At New Zealand Police
To be employed by New Zealand Police on a permanent basis, you must:
- be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or be a New Zealand Permanent Resident.
You may be employed by New Zealand Police on a temporary basis if you:
- have lawful authority to work in New Zealand, which includes a Work Visa with conditions that allow the holder to work in the position applied for or have a variation of condition to a Visitor or Student Visa that allows such work.

Successfully Pass A Background Check
You can expect any law enforcement agency youre applying for to conduct a number of checks into your background, including criminal history and even credit history. While this isnt literally the first step to becoming a police officer, it is the first one youll need to consider before you get too invested in the process. If you have concerns about how your background might impact your candidacy, you may want to consult a police academy admissions representative about it.
Your credit history may be analyzed because it gives potential employers an idea of your level of responsibility and potential problems like gambling-related debts. Police departments look into applicants history of criminal activity, employment, residency and academic records as well.

Chandigarh Police Assistant Sub Inspector Admit Card
The students who have filled in the application form for the Chandigarh Police ASI will receive their admit cards containing relevant information well in advance before the examination. The students can obtain their admit cards by logging into the official website of the Chandigarh Police department as and when they are released by the authorities. All candidates who register themselves on the website being provided by the Department and whose applications are found to be in order and are provisionally accepted by the Department as per the terms and conditions of the Notice of Examination will be assigned Roll numbers and issued Admit Card for appearing in the Written Test/Computer Based Examination/OMR Sheet Based Test. Subsequently, shortlisted candidates will be issued separate Admit Card for PE& MT.

Toronto Police Officer Application Process
The process outlined below belongs to the Toronto Police Service. Most police agencies in Ontario follow a similar process.
Applicants can be declined at any stage in the application process. The most suitable candidates in the application pool are selected amongst those who pass every stage.
Once you have been selected, you advance to recruit training. In the Toronto Police Service application process, you are sent to the Ontario Police College for recruit training. Recruits need to pass this program in order to become a police officer.

Chandigarh Police Asi Educational Qualification
The candidates should have completed their graduation or any equivalent degree from a recognised university.
For all candidates
Graduation or its equivalent from any recognized university.
For Ex-Servicemen candidates:
As above or Certificates awarded in the Defence Services which ore recognized as equivalent to Graduation for civil employment as notified GOI from time to time.
Candidates should also have basic knowledge of computer skills from any recognized institute.
How Long Does It Take To Become A Police Officer
The process of becoming a police officer requires a significant investment of your time. The duration varies and depends on how quickly and accurately an individual completes the forms and assessments. This also depends on the police agency you apply at.
The CPS states that their process takes between 3-6 months to complete. The RCMP doesnt provide a set duration for the entire process their cadet training takes 26 weeks. At the VPD, the recruit training alone takes up to 44 weeks in total.
Generally, you can expect to set aside 6 months for your application process. We recommend that you contact the police agency that youre interested in to find out how long their process takes from start to finish.
