- Animal Licensing
All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species . Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

If you think a property in your neighborhood is not being maintained in compliance with the city code, you may report a code violation online.
- Discrimination Complaint
It is unlawful in the City of Prairie Village to discriminate against individuals in employment, housing, and public accommodations based on sexual orientation or gender identity. If you believe you have been discriminated against, you may file a claim with the City Clerks office using this claim form. All discrimination claims must be filed with the City within 60 days of the last act of discrimination.

Prohibited Off-Duty Employment*:
- Officers may not be hired for an event in which armed private security personnel will be present.
- Officers may not provide civil legal services or act as a witness to civil legal proceedings.
- Officers may not be hired for an event where they would be a private bodyguard or bouncer.
- Officers may not be hired where alcoholic beverages are the principal business and may be permitted upon approval of the Chief of Police or designee.

The New York Post is reporting that a high-level Los Angeles Democrat has been indicted in a federal corruption probe.
Councilman Mark Ridley Thomas, 66 along with former dean Marilyn Louise Flynn, 83 are expected to be arraigned in the next few days on charges of conspiracy, bribery, honest services mail fraud and honest services wire fraud.
The charges carry decades in prison if they are convicted, although honestly at their age, the chances of any type of lengthy sentence is questionable.
The indictments stem from a scheme whereby Ridley-Thomas and a former dean at the University of Southern Californias School of Social Work hatched a deal to direct lucrative contracts to the school in exchange for a scholarship for his son, as well as a professorship.
In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison said:
This indictment charges a seasoned lawmaker who allegedly abused the publics trust by taking official actions to benefit his family member and himself.
The corrupt activities alleged in the indictment were facilitated by a major universitys high-ranking administrator whose desire for funding apparently trumped notions of integrity and fair, she said in a statement.

I am looking at a venue that requires we hire 1 off duty cop for the whole evening at our expense, since we will be serving alcohol. It’s a lodge at a beautiful county park. My FH is concerned that his presence, patrolling the wedding, is going to make guests feel uncomfortable. Mind you, we’re not a rowdy group, but we will be serving alcohol and having a good old time lol. Has anyone ever found the officer at their wedding to be intrusive or overbearing? I told my FH that he will likely just hang out outside and just make sure no one super inebriated gets in a car and drives home. Anyone? I really love this venue, but that is his one hang up with it.

Factors That Determine The Number Of Officers Need For An Event:
Special events are important to local governments for many reasons, including the public enjoyment, a sense of community, and revenue for local businesses. Effective security and traffic control is a critical feature of these events. The Police Department is responsible for receiving, evaluating, recommending, and providing security and traffic services for all organized events within the City.
Police Officers are also available to provide traffic control on public streets for events that draw additional vehicular, bicycle, parking, and pedestrian traffic. Police officers are limited to performing only law enforcement related functions at your event. Some specific duties that police officers are prohibited from performing include: 1. Ticket taking or seat ushering 2. Carding or identifying individuals to determine their status and right to attend the event 3. Collection of any money 4. Parking assistance in parking lots or reserving parking for event staff or visitors 5. Enforcement of management rules. Officers will only assist in the event that event coordinator requests the removal of a person.

Greenwich Police Extra Duty Hiring Procedures
Officers sign up for side jobs on their offduty time. There is no guarantee of filling the job. However, most jobs are filled. Special Officers may sign up for jobs 24hours in advance of the start time.
The rate is $75.00 per hour with a four hour minimum. Invoicing is done on a bimonthly basis.
Officers will be entitled to a minimum30minute paid meal break for side jobs that are more than 7 hours in duration.
The Town requires a specific location to meet the work crew if the job is in the roadway, such as an address.
If the job is roadwork related, the proper permit must be issued by the Highway Department.
If the request is for a Special Event, such as a Fair, Carnival, Race, Demonstration, or Rally, the proper permits must be obtained, including a Special Event Permit from the Traffic Division.
The Police Department must be informed as to whether the job is traffic control or securityrelated in nature. If special attire is required , this dress attire must be specifically requested when the job is scheduled.

Off Duty Police Officer Request
The Atlantic Beach Police Department allows citizens to hire off-duty police officers to perform security and traffic control services. Officers are often hired to provide security and traffic control at large and small events, traffic control for projects in the roadway, security, and many other situations.
The hourly rate of pay charged by Atlantic Beach Police Department is $40.00 per hour with a 4 hour minimum for off duty police services, such as: residential parties, estate sales, security jobs and traffic control. Cancellations may be made at any time, however if the cancellation is less than 24 hours before the start of the requested time, a minimum of 4 hours salary will be incurred by the requesting party. The hourly rate of pay on the following days is $50.00 per hour, with a 4 hour minimum: New Years Eve, New Years Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
If a police vehicle is needed to perform the job duties, an additional $25.00 fee per day/per vehicle is required, payable to the City of Atlantic Beach. A marked police vehicle is required with all traffic related off duty employment such as road construction and repairs. The police vehicle fee is required to offset the cost of the vehicles fuel and maintenance. This fee may be waived by the off duty employment supervisor, depending on the nature of the vehicles usage.
