How To Get A Police Report Washington State

Why Are These The Only Crimes Shown

City: No funds allotted for Seattle Police Department’s hiring bonus promise | FOX 13 Seattle

With the Police Reports Map and 9-1-1 Response Map, SPD is making almost all of our reports available online. The Department attempted to be very thoughtful about what information was released and what was not. These decisions were not made to “hide” types of crimes from the public, instead decisions were made about who to protect.

The only reports that are not being released under this system are when the rights of the victim, age of the victim, possibility of revictimization or overall public safety/security issues take clear precedence over the public right to know.

Information on Rape and other sexual offenses, Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Kidnapping, Suicides, locations that are sensitive , Homeland Security issues and tactical information that might compromise the safety of our officers are not being released in this system.

If the event is one of the many types we do show, but the location code was entered into the system incorrectly, the location of the event cannot then be verified. In this scenario, this particular event will not appear on the map at all, rather than providing possibly misleading information.

What Other Steps Should You Take After A Car Accident

After a car accident, you may wonder what steps to take, and in what order. As accident attorneys, heres what we advise:

  • Seek medical care. Your health always comes first. Go to the emergency room if you have life-threatening injuries. Otherwise, make it a priority to get evaluated as soon as possible by your doctor or at urgent care after an accident. Often, you may not realize the extent of your injuries until a few days afterwards.
  • Gather evidence. If you or a passenger is able, take as many pictures as possible at the scene of the accident. Get witness names and contact information.
  • Notify your insurance company. Open a claim with the insurance company.
  • Use care in what you post on social media. While the tendency is to post about your accident on social media, we advise that you refrain from doing so.

Finally, if youve been injured in a car accident due to no fault of your own, please give one of our attorneys a call. We may be able to help you file a claim and ensure you get the settlement you deserve.

Welcome To 2022 We’ll Be There For The Community

Your department is currently operating with policy and a response philosophy in line with the Washington State law enforcement reforms of 2021. If you call for police service, we will respond and assess how we can best contribute to positive solutions to community problems. During the legislative off-season, we’ve been working with our state lawmakers to educate them on impacts to community safety stemming from legislative changes. Read the WASPC pre-session statement to understand what’s essential for your Community’s security and our outlook on police reform in Washington State.

In June of 2021, we achieved certification from the CJTC that all of our operations staff have received their required crisis intervention training. We are currently prioritizing the patrol tactics training as our next training priority.

We are building your police department of the future here in Marysville, WA. We have our new public safety building and municipal jail move ahead of us in the first half of 2022. Our other department goals have us focused on improving staff safety, wellness, and training, the retention of current staff, and the recruiting of new employees. 2022 serves as another foundational year for us to develop our future leaders in the agency and prepare for a State Accreditation process in 2023.

Why Are Some Things Blacked Out On The Page

This is called redacting and it is done to protect the privacy of the people involved in the incident.

The Department redacts the names of all victims, all non-involved parties, all juveniles/minors and all suspects unless they have been booked into jail. This is a major reason why it takes time to prepare crime reports for online posting.

Once a suspect has been booked into jail, their name is no longer private. If they were booked into King County Jail you can view suspect information online at the King County Jail Register.

What Are Washington Conviction Records

Washington conviction records are official court documents describing the convictions of individuals found guilty of crimes. These records are prepared after indicted persons have submitted their pleas, had their hearings, and are adjudged guilty of the crime for which they are charged. Conviction records may arise from infraction, misdemeanor, or felony charges. They are rendered by juries or judges in non-jury trials. Washington conviction records include the final judgements of guilty parties. Following their trials, they may be placed on probation, fined, imprisoned, or paroled. Conviction records for pardoned convicts and judgements set aside or reversed do not include final judgments.

Your Options If A Request Is Denied

Court Review : If either a state or local agency denies your request to inspect or copy a record, you may file a lawsuit in Superior Court in the county where the agency record is located to require the agency to release the record. Likewise, if there is unreasonable delay by the the agency, you may bring a similar court action.

The burden is on the agency to establish that its denial of inspection is proper or its estimate of time for response is reasonable. If you are successful in reversing the agency denial, the court will require the agency to pay costs and reasonable attorney fees incurred in the court action, and may award you an amount between $5 and $100 a day for each day that access to the records was denied.

Attorney General Review. If a state agency denies your request to inspect or copy all or part of a record, you may request Office of Attorney General review. Direct your written request for Attorney General review, along with a copy of your request to the agency, and the agencys written denial to:

Office of the Attorney GeneralPublic Records ReviewP.O. Box 40100Olympia, WA 98504-0100

The Office of Attorney General will independently review your request and the agencys denial, and provide you with a written opinion as to whether the record you requested is exempt from disclosure. This review by the Attorney General is not binding on the agency or upon you.

The Attorney General review process does not apply to denials of requests by local agencies.

Lightning Strike Data And How To Stay Safe

A total of 444 people died in lightning strikes between 2006 and 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Lightning strike deaths are most likely in the summer, and most often happen to people who are participating in outside recreation or work.

The National Weather Service says anyone should go inside if they hear thunder.

“Avoid open areas. Don’t be the tallest object in the area,” an NWS safety brochure says. “Stay away from isolated tall trees, towers or utility poles. Lightning tends to strike the taller objects in an area.”
