How Crime Stoppers Works
Your information will be taken in strict confidence. You never have to give your name. You will be given a confidential code number, keep this number a secret. Crime Stoppers will then process the tip to go to the correct party.
Be sure to call back to for an update. If your information leads to an arrest or charge, you will become eligible for a cash reward.
Cash rewards are distributed through pre-arranged locations across the region for pickup after approval by the Crime Stoppers board of directors.
Blocking Your Phone Number
If you call from your home or cell phone, you can use 67 to block your line. Your number will appear as a private or restricted number on the receiver’s caller ID. Simply type in 67 and then the entire phone number, including “1” plus the area code if the number is long distance. However, your number will not be blocked when calling 911 or toll-free numbers.
Who Oversees The Crime Stoppers Program
A Community Board of Volunteers oversees the program. Peel Crime Stoppers is a registered non-profit charitable organization. Crime Stoppers receives no government funding. All funds used to operate the Crime Stoppers program are obtained through charitable community donations this includes the money that is paid out to our tipsters.

How To Report A Crime Anonymously
If you have information about a crime, but are uncomfortable identifying yourself, there are ways you can confidentially share what you know without anyone knowing who you are.
It is always best to report a crime. The information you provide can help you or someone else or can help the police solve crimes and arrest and convict the right people. You are contributing to making your community safer.

How To Submit Tips To Police
MIDLAND, Texas Agencies like the Midland Police Department and Midland County Sheriff’s Office rely on the public’s help to stop crime and solve cases.
Tips from the public can help officers prevent disasters from happening, and several tips have come in relating to MISD schools over the past few years.
But what can you do if you have information relating to a crime that could help police out?
One of the easiest ways to report your information is by going to Midland Crime Stoppers.
Midland Crime Stoppers use completely anonymous forms of report to keep you safe. They also offer rewards for information that leads to arrests, so make sure to keep your tip number on hand to claim the money if your tip was helpful.
To report a tip via Crime Stoppers, you can call 432-694-TIPS, log onto the website or use the mobile app P3 TIPS.
You can also report your information directly to the agencies themselves.

The agency you are reporting to will vary depending on whether you and the case you are reporting on are located inside the city limits or not.

Avoid Using Your Personal Phones
A pay phone allows you to use *67 to hide the number when calling a non-emergency police line. In addition, if you pay with coins, the call can be traced only to the phone, not to you. If you’re planning to make several anonymous calls, consider purchasing a prepaid telephone and pay with cash. While the number is visible, it is not linked to your name.

Can I Make An Anonymous Online Report Using 105policegovtnz
You cant file an anonymous report via 105 as we need some personal information in order to follow up on your case. If you want to report a crime to Police without your name or contact details attached, please use Crimestoppers* or by calling 0800 555 111.

The Anonymous Reporting Line
The anonymous reporting line, 794-5824, is provided as a resource for those wishing to report crimes anonymously.
If you choose to report anonymously, you must leave specific details in order for UCPD to investigate the crime. Provide details to the best of your ability to the following questions:
- What happened? What did you see? What appears suspicious to you?
- Where exactly did the incident occur? Include streets, building and room/area.
- Did the suspect have any weapons?
- What did the suspect say?
- Where and when was the suspect last seen?
- Which direction was the suspect headed?
- Was the suspect on foot or in a vehicle?
- What did the suspect look like? Describe each suspect one at a time.

After a message is retrieved from the anonymous reporting line, the information is forwarded to the appropriate person.

Submit A Tip Online Here
Once a tip has been received it will be sent to the law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over the reported crime. The agency will investigate the tip and report back the outcome of the investigation to our administrative office in Southfield, Michigan.
You can follow up on your tip by calling our administrative office on specified days. The phone number to call when following up on a tip is 313-922-5000. The hours to call our main office for follow-ups are: Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. 3 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. 5 p.m.
If your tip leads to an arrest, you will be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500. Rewards are processed once a month. If you are eligible for a reward, we have partnered with local banks that will disburse the reward in cash. No identification is needed, and you will only need your tip reference number and the amount of the reward to get paid.
Submitting Anonymous Tips Through Metro Crime Stoppers
Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland is an organization separate from the Annapolis Police Department. When you text, phone in, or submit your Annapolis crime tip online Metro Crime Stoppers receives your tip anonymously and only forwards your tip information to the Annapolis Police Department. No identifying information is ever forwarded to us. Please be assured that only your tip is communicated from Metro Crime Stoppers to the police department, not any identifying information about you. What To Include In Your Tip
Any information you can provide to the authorities that will prevent further drug activity is absolutely helpful. The following are a few details that will ensure your anonymous tip is as effective as possible. If you have the information, try to include:
- The address where you suspect drug activity.
- Full names of the people you suspect.
- Related vehiclesmake, model, license plate.
- When people come and go, how long they stay, how often they appear.
- Information about any packages being exchanged.
- If the location is a house, provide the name of people living there.
- Are there children? Dogs?
Why The New Bern Police Department Submitted The Grant For A Tip Line
New Bern police made a Facebook announcement on Dec. 8, 2021 about their submission to the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant Program for $12,108 in funding.
The program supports several areas of law enforcement which include crime prevention and education, McInnis said.
He said NBPD will use the funds to implement Tip411, a software technology that enables anyone with a cell phone to text anonymous tips to law enforcement agencies.
The tips will be received in real time and provide the ability to communicate back to the tipster on a secure network.
McInnis added Tip411 has been used in more than 2,000 communities across the U.S. and the department believes it will enhance and improve community policing efforts.
Dixon said anonymous tips are tough based on concerns of citizen’s rights and arrest made just by tips alone.
“If we’re instituting an anonymous tips program than we have to both train our officers on how to appropriately respond to anonymous tips,” Dixon said. “It provides an outlet for the community to sort of alert police anonymously to things they think are going on. But it’s not a free pass for the police to go get a search warrant.”

Can Police Search A House Based On An Anonymous Tip
Police must obtain a warrant to search a house. An anonymous tip, standing alone, does not provide the necessary probable cause for the issuance of a warrant.
The affidavit for a search warrant must include:
- sufficient information to conclude that the informant is honest, and/or
- facts indicating that the information is reliable along with the basis of the informers knowledge.
The anonymous informant must actually witness the alleged criminal activity.
For example:
A tip by an anonymous informant that there was heavy foot traffic at a persons residence, by itself, is not sufficient to establish probable cause. See Bailey v. Superior Court 11 Cal. App. 4th 1107.

The Newport News Police Department needs your help to solve a past homicide.
On November 27th, 2019, at 3:04 a.m., Newport News Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of 24th Street in reference to subjects tampering with vehicles and that a subject had been shot. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics pronounced the victim deceased at 4:03 a.m. The victim was identified as 48-year-old Calbert S. Thomas of the 1400 block of 24th Street. It was reported the victim confronted the subjects tampering with his vehicle and was subsequently shot.

Can Police Stop A Car Based On An Anonymous Tip
Police must have probable cause or reasonable suspicion of criminal activity to stop a motor vehicle. Sometimes an anonymous tip can be sufficient.
The justification for the stop or detention by police must include:
- specific and articulable facts which support the intrusion,
- based upon the totality of the circumstances.
Courts will look at the of the information that police are relying on:
- is it confirmed or verified by the police?
- is it reliable?
For example:
An anonymous 911 caller told police that a truck had run her off the road. The caller provided the vehicle description and license plate number. Officers quickly located and stopped the truck. The officers smelled marijuana, searched the vehicle and found 30 pounds of the drug. The court ruled that based upon the totality of the circumstances, the officers had reasonable suspicion to think the driver might be intoxicated and could stop the vehicle to confirm. An investigative detention is illegal if it is based on only one insufficient factor, such as:
- curiosity, rumor, or a hunch
- race or sex of the suspect
- suspects presence in a high-crime area or
- a persons nervous behavior.
