Volunteering provides an opportunity to do something worthwhile with your spare time, making a real difference to your local police force and to your community.
It allows you to become involved with policing and to be part of the policing family, which has the needs and interests of communities at its heart. It allows you to engage and interact with people from all backgrounds, whilst making a positive contribution to your area.
PSVs learn new skills whilst sharing and enhancing those they already have. They gain a deep insight into the fascinating world of law and order, whilst enhancing their CV by being part of a professional, public-focused organisation.

Duties Of An Adult & Youth Volunteer
The duties of an Adult & Youth Volunteer are meant to be focused on crime prevention and community outreach initiatives.
Some areas where volunteers are utilized are:
- Assisting with Community Barbeques and Divisional Open House events
- Staffing kiosks at community events/fairs or shopping centres
- Assisting with large-scale police events
- Conducting child car seat installation clinics

Ready To Become A Police Volunteer
- The first step is to request a Police Volunteer Application by calling the Volunteer Coordinator at Community Services at 978-937-3210
- Once the Volunteer Coordinator has received your Volunteer Application, it will be reviewed for completion

The Adult & Youth Volunteer Program
The Adult & Youth Volunteer Program is a Toronto Police Service initiative designed to build a working relationship between the public and the police. We aim to attract volunteers who are motivated to work actively within their community and represent the Toronto police in both a pleasant and professional manner. Entry into this program is very competitive and it attracts a large amount of applicants each year. The Adult and Youth Volunteer Program assigns volunteers to work alongside the Community Safety Response Unit officers at their local police station.

City Of Delray Beach Fl
The purpose of the academy is to develop ninth through 12th-grade students into potential law enforcement, correctional and court system employees, to alter perceptions of policing, life ambitions, and to motivate students enrolled in the program. The program is also designed to provide students the opportunity to learn interpersonal and communication, proficiency, and employability skills through classroom instruction and activities.
In the program, students can achieve academic credits and the opportunity to receive Community Service Officer and Dispatcher certifications. In 2008, the program received national acclaim and national accreditation.

Atlantic Community High School
The Police Advisory Board acts as an advisory body to the Chief of Police, City Manager and City Commission on police policy and resource issues serves as a conduit for the community to address their issues and community problems through a cooperative effort to review community needs and concerns, expectations and responses relative to police services and community policing. Advises the police Department on and provide support for communication and education between the community and the Police Department.

How to Join
Minimum Requirements For Becoming A Volunteer
- You must be able to pass a background investigation. The background investigation includes a criminal history check and extensive employment and social reference checks.
- You must have a commitment to comply with confidentiality requirements and police policies.
- You must be willing to comply with the City of Eugenes drug-free policy.
- You must be supportive of the Eugene Police Department and comfortable working within a police environment which sometimes involves people-related emergencies and crisis conflict management.
- Some assignments require volunteers to be 18 years of age or older, other assignments require volunteers to be retired.
- Most assignments require a minimum commitment of one four-hour shift per week for three months of service.

Ways Vips Serve The Community
Citizens on Patrol
The COPs team acts as the eyes and ears for MPD while driving a police volunteer vehicle through the city. The two person team works a 4-hour shift in this observation-only role while they check houses on the vacation watch list, report parking violations and report observed suspicious activity to the police for follow-up.
Crisis Response and/or YANA
Specially trained crisis response volunteers relieve officers at scenes and assist victims by providing emotional support, resources, information, and referrals. Volunteers make weekly phone calls to citizens registered with the MPD’s You Are Not Alone program, and may make a home visit when requested by the MPD.
Park Patrol
A team of two volunteers patrols Pacana Park and the surrounding subdivision in a golf cart for a 2-hour shift, interacting with parents and children in the park as well as checking for graffiti, damaged property, or illegal activity, and reporting to dispatch.
Administration
These volunteers provide clerical support to various MPD departments. Interested volunteers may provide fingerprinting services for court-ordered defendants, city employees, or MPD volunteers.
Radar Speed Control
This team sets up Radar Speed Control devices at various locations throughout the city.
Fleet Management
This team is responsible for transporting MPD vehicles to/from local and/or Phoenix area businesses for repair, service, or equipment installation.
Graffiti Abatement
Orange Police Department Volunteer Program
The Orange Police Department has adopted a philosophy of partnering with the community. The use of dedicated volunteers is one way of incorporating this philosophy. The OPD Volunteer Program is made up of Orange residents who have successfully graduated from the Citizen Police Academy and decided they want to give back to their community. Volunteers assist with a variety of in-house clerical support, as well as with field assignments including:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Work or live in the City of Orange
- Successful completion of the Citizen Police Academy
- Availability Monday – Thursday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm
- Ability to commit to regularly scheduled four hours per week
- Occasionally assist with special events that may fall outside regular hours, such as the Child DNA Program, in addition to regular assignments

We Are Currently Accepting Applications
Volunteers and interns serve with diligence, pride, and dedication, and they continue to introduce new ideas, a fresh outlook, and an invigorating spirit to our workforce. Their contributions are highly valued and greatly appreciated by the Police Department and the community it serves. Currently, our active, highly diverse volunteer corps numbers approximately 175. Volunteers are involved in nearly all aspects of the departments operations from training to communications. They work side-by-side in support of the line officers, command staff, and civilian employees.
Duties Of An Auxiliary Police Officer
The following are some ways that the auxiliary police assist the Police Department:
- Patrol housing developments, residential, and commercial areas
- Patrol subway entrances and stations
- Maintain order at parades, festivals, street fairs, and other special events
- Patrol houses of worship
- Assist in crime prevention activities
- Perform traffic control at motor vehicle accidents and fire scenes
- Perform various other non-enforcement duties

Volunteer With The Santa Cruz Police Department
Volunteers in Policing Services program, designed to allow community members to assist the Santa Cruz Police Department and supplement public safety and crime prevention efforts. SCPD engages a team of trained citizen volunteers to assist the department in non-enforcement duties. Our dedicated group of volunteers will support officer to allow agencies to provide additional services, maintain positive relationships with the public, free up officers time for higher level duties, and maximize impact in the community.
Volunteer duties will include security checks in neighborhoods, welfare checks on the elderly, conducting vacation home security checks, working at special events, enforcing parking violations, vehicle abatement and helping the department with clerical tasks. Volunteers will be patrolling the downtown and, neighborhoods. They observe and report crime and quality-of-life issues their station and distribute valuable information about crime trends to the community. Members do not take enforcement action, carry weapons, or make arrests.
Our Goal: To form a partnership where trained volunteers can enhance and support the department, freeing up officers and staff for higher priority duties by placing volunteers in rewarding activities which utilize their experience and talents.
Qualifications required: Minimum 18 years of age pass a background check
Time commitment: Minimum 8 hours per month

YouthLink is an innovative hands-on learning centre and museum filled with powerful immersive exhibits and Albertas largest collection of policing artifacts ever placed on public display.
YouthLink offers a number of public programs birthday parties, CSI forensic programs for kids and adults, youth programs , and special events . We are looking for enthusiastic, out-going, and committed individuals to help deliver our engaging programs.
If you enjoy sharing information and have excellent customer service skills, we are also looking for volunteers to work at our front desk during our public days.
The centre is open to the public from 10:00-4:00 on Fridays and Saturdays from September to June and Tuesday to Saturday in July and August.

How To Become A Volunteer
- Submit an application to Volunteer Coordinator Yvette Fickel
- She and a Police Sergeant will conduct an interview
- A background check will be conducted, and upon successful completion of the background check, the applicant will be invited to an orientation with other volunteers to welcome them to the program, answer questions, and be assigned a mentor to work with them until training is complete. They will be given a briefing of what is expected of volunteers and receive an information packet, then discuss and identify their areas of interests, discuss training, and tour the Police department.

Helping Our Community Through Volunteerism
Volunteering is a program that allows residents of our community to assist the Federal Way Police Department. Countless public dollars are saved though this program and it provides community members a chance to see what is happening in their community and get a better understanding of how things work in todays policing environment.
You must be 18 and should complete the Federal Way Police Departments Citizen Police Academy within two years of joining. The Academy is a 10-week evening course that starts in April of every year and meets a few days a week. A background check is required. All skills are welcome.
A Variety Of Service Options Available
Hemet Police Volunteers sign up to work in the fields that interest them most and they are most comfortable in. They bring years of experience to our Department and are not forced into working in an area they are not suited for or do not enjoy. They choose from working in records, patrol, vehicle maintenance, neighborhood watch, sub-stations, special events, and much more.

What Qualifications Do I Need To Be A Volunteer Firefighter
Before you apply, make sure that you have the following qualifications:
- a valid drivers license, minimum Class 5
- grade 12 or equivalent education
- a driver’s abstract demonstrating a safe driving record
- a clean criminal record check
- Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status
- ability to communicate in English
- normal vision and hearing
- no phobias of confined heights or spaces
Victim Assistance Support Team
Volunteer victim support workers assist victims of crime and misfortune with support, information and referral services. Support is offered in the form of court accompaniment, assistance with restitution request applications and other services, and providing information about court dates and police and/or court procedures.
