Qualify To Join Requirements To Be A Chandler Police Officer:
Prospective Chandler Police Officers must meet all of the following minimum requirements. Requirements are determined by the City of Chandler and the State of Arizona.
- Be a United States citizen
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a high school graduate or have successfully completed a General Education Development examination

Arizona State Trooper Exam

How Uvalde Cisd Is Responding
The district on Thursday apologized for the decision and confirmed that Elizondo had been fired from her position with the district police.
We are deeply distressed by the information that was disclosed yesterday evening concerning one of our recently hired employees, Crimson Elizondo, the district said in a statement. We sincerely apologize to the victims families and the greater Uvalde community for the pain this revelation has caused. Ms. Elizondo’s statement in the audio is not consistent with the district’s expectations.”
Over the summer, officials with the Uvalde school district said the district planned to hire several more district police officers and security personnel as part of its school security improvements made in response to the shooting.
A special Texas House committee tasked with investigating the shooting determined that top-to-bottom failures combined to turn the May 24 attack into the worst school shooting in Texas history, including not having a specific officer to patrol Robb Elementary.
Five officers, including former Police Chief Pete Arredondo, made up the school police force.
Parents this summer called for their ouster, along with former Robb Elementary Principal Mandy Gutierrez, who was put on leave and then reassigned.
Results of the investigation will help determine future personnel decisions, officials said.

The news sparked a wave of criticism and anger among Uvalde parents, including parents who lost their children in the massacre.

Edited Body Camera Video Released After Officers Shot Killed Man Throwing Rocks
PHOENIX Edited body camera video and new information have been released after Phoenix police officers shot and killed a man who was throwing rocks at officers.
On September 24, officers were leaving from an unrelated call in the area of 19th and Glendale avenues when a patrol vehicle was struck by a rock.
The edited body camera video in the player above shows the moments leading up to the shooting.
Officers in two patrol cars stopped further down the road and requested assistance from an air unit and an officer who had less-lethal weapons.
In one portion of the body camera footage, an officer can be heard getting into his vehicle, where he then returns to the intersection where 34-year-old Ali Osman was throwing rocks, saying, “let’s get this mother f——-.”
When one officer was pulling into the intersection, two rocks hit the vehicle, according to police. The officer exited his car and was hit in the shin with a rock.
The second police vehicle arrived shortly after the first.
Two officers shot Osman when he went to throw another rock at an officer, according to police.
Osman was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The rocks thrown damaged the spotlight on one of the police vehicle and the bodies of both vehicles.

Phoenix Police Officer Training Prerequisites And Educational Requirements
To be a police officer in Phoenix, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and a US citizen, meet visual acuity and physical fitness requirements, have a drivers license with an acceptable driving record, and have a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must not have been convicted of any felony, and may be disqualified for certain misdemeanors. Applicants must also demonstrate consistent and responsible employment and financial histories. It is a competitive process and a relatively small number of applicants are accepted from each starting pool.
Accepted applicants will attend 20 weeks of training at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy in Phoenix. The officer training program is based on tactical, physical, academic, and driving modules. Candidates are advised to begin a regular physical fitness routine prior to arriving at the academy to be prepared for the physical demands of the program. After graduation new recruits are assigned to patrol, where they complete additional field training.
