Boyle County Sheriff Richmond Police Donate Cars To Cities Counties

Church to donate $1K to every Jonesborough Police Dept. employee
Monday, four cars were taken down to the Graves County Sheriff’s Department Richmond car going Friday

DANVILLE, Ky. The Boyle County Sheriffs Department is giving back to a community hit hard by Saturdays tornadoes. So is the Richmond Police Department.

Monday, after hearing of first responders driving in vehicles damaged by tornadoes in Graves County, the Boyle County Sheriffs Department took four of its own surplus cars to Mayfield and gave them to the Graves County Sheriffs Department.

Most of those deputies and first responders live in that same community. Their house could have been destroyed. Their family could have been injured. And theyre still coming to work every day to help the community even though they may have things at their house or their family needs them to do. So theyre sacrificing a lot, said Sheriff Derek Robbins.

According to Sheriff Robbins, hed heard of a deputy driving her own car at work.

One of the deputies was driving her own car. So she got one of the cars that we had brought down. Its anything we can do for them, because if they cant get out to help the community, theyre useless, said Sheriff Robbins.

Sheriff Robbins says the community helped pack the cars, along with his SUV and another truck, with water, cars, diapers, and other essentials to take to Mayfield as well, after the wife of a Boyle County Sheriffs Department deputy posted about the trip to Mayfield on Facebook.

Public Safety Fundraising Appeals Make Your Donations Count

Every day, police and firefighters risk their lives to make your community safer. To show your support, you may consider making a donation when a fundraiser calls on behalf of a fire or police service organization. Before you write the check, please consider all the facts concerning Public Safety fundraising appeals.

  • Who are members of the organization? Simply having the words police or firefighter in an organizations name doesnt mean police or firefighters are members of the group.
  • Will my donation benefit my local community? Just because an organization claims it has local ties or works with local police or firefighters doesnt mean your contributions will be used locally or for public safety purposes. The organization should be able to provide you with written information describing the programs your donation will support, and their fundraising costs before you donate.
  • Will my donation be used to pay for the services of a professional fundraiser? Most solicitations for police and fire service organizations are made by paid professional fundraisers.
  • Is my donation deductible? Donations to some police or firefighter groups may not be tax deductible. Many kinds of organizations are tax exempt, including fraternal organizations, labor unions, and trade associations, but donations to them may not be tax deductible.

The West Fargo Police Department received an anonymous $15,000 donation to support the K9 Division. This donation will help purchase another K9 in the future to replace current K9s when they are ready to retire.

It is perfect timing to receive this donation as the longevity of one of our working K9s is coming to an end, said Assistant Chief Pete Nielsen. Receiving donations such as this shows the continued community support of our department and the positive influence of our K9 Division.

Group Walks Over Two Miles To Donate Toys To Local Police Department

WILMINGTON, N.C. – On an unseasonably warm Saturday in December, a group with F3 Fitness of the Cape Fear put on their walking shoes for Toys for Tots.

The group started at the Wild Wing Cafe across from Mayfaire, and walked all the way to the Wrightsville Beach Police Department with a sleigh full of toys.

Its probably about 75 pounds fully loaded with toys, said Jeff Marsh with F3 Cape Fear.

Its the time of the year when theres folks out there that are much more in need than we are, said Marsh.

Their sleigh full of toys turned a bare tree into one full of gifts. Each member grabbing a toy from the sleigh, and carrying into the police department to place under the tree.

I feel like Im just helping a lot of kids have a great time of year, said Lydia Tooley, a young girl that participated in the event.

After dropping all of their donations off at the police department, the group started their walk back to where they started, this time with an empty sleigh.

You have to do things outside of yourself. Part of that is serving the community, said Marsh.

This was the first year of the event, but they hope to make it an annual one after this year.

A little more gratitude, a little more love, I think that goes a long way, said Marsh.

If you would like to donate to Toys for Tots, you can find a drop-off location here.

“We knew they were going to go to work, one way or another, so when we found out there was a need for K9 units, we jumped all over it,” Raegan told FOX 29’s Thomas Drayton.

Liberty and Justice will enter a 10-week training course to become bomb-sniffing dogs with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Small Appreciation Gift Ideas For Your Local Police Department

San Luis Police Department receives donation from local nonprofit

As the wife of a law enforcement officer I get asked all the time what are some appreciation gifts police officers like during the holidays. First, I think its amazing that people show their support for our first responders. There are tons of people out there that really care and it melts my heart. The news media loves to show you all the negative stories surrounding our law enforcement but I know people care. They REALLY care!!!

Im surrounded by lots of law enforcement so when I asked the question of what they would love to get as a gift during the holidays they immediately responded with stay home and be safe! They really do want the best for you. They are the most selfless people I know. And when you stay home and be safe their job is a little easier too. It calls for a peaceful and uneventful night. Yeah, thats not happening.

If you really want to do something for your police officers local to you I would highly suggest making some cute little care packages that include some useful items. Now bare with me because you may not think these are as useful as those who work the streets. So I will do my best to explain each one and why its important.

    Care goodie bags that include:

Cliff bars, Protein bars or Power Bars most of the time officers working calls jump from one call to the next without a break in between to eat. Its important to keep energy up and sometimes dinner is a simple protein bar.

    Wear And Display Blue

Many law enforcement workers are known for their blue uniforms. Blue usually represents police and other upholders of the law. Proudly display blue ribbons, blue lights or flags on homes and businesses. Wear blue shirts or law enforcement-inspired insignia to public or high-profile events as a token of appreciation for local law enforcement. Even buy a blue light for your front porch and keep it lit. Almost works like the Green Light for a Vet, but using a blue light instead. Also check out All Things Blue.

Criminals are very good at making people feel sorry for them. This especially applies to habitual, predatory individuals. They are going to see themselves as the victims, and try to win people over to their side. How else are they supposed to keep committing crimes? Rapists, drug dealers, arsonists, and bank robbers are not nice people. Yes they all have a story, and many of them have had a hard life. Join the club. This is not an excuse.

Ocala Police Department Donates Thanksgiving Meals To Families In Need

Holyoke Police Department donate funds to local non-profit for veterans

Local police department employees donated their holiday bonus checks to ensure that families in need would be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

On Tuesday, Ocala Police Department employees donated their Thanksgiving bonus checks, and the funds were used to purchase Thanksgiving dinners for 50 local families.

The City of Ocala gives OPD employees a $30 check each year to help cover the cost of their Thanksgiving meal. This year, and last year as well, OPD employees opted instead to give the money back so it could be used to benefit the community.

Thanks to the generosity of the OPD employees, those 50 dinners include a turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, rice, rolls, cranberry sauce, and the choice of a sweet potato or pumpkin pie.

The families were identified by school resource officers and community partners, and the OPD employees hand-delivered the meals to their homes.

OPD also donated five turkeys to The Kings Embassy of Kingdom Nation to be used for the churchs free community Thanksgiving dinner.

According to OPD, all remaining funds from the Thanksgiving bonus checks will be used to stuff Christmas stockings with goodies for the officers to hand out to children during the holiday season.
