Uk Police Ford Mustang Mach

Anything its V8 namesake can do , the Mach-E can do too. At the request of several UK police forces, Ford kitted its electric SUV out in high specification, maximum visibility livery, plus all the usual lights, sirens and other police gubbins.

To ensure minimal impact on range, power for the extra gear was sourced from the Mach-Es 12V battery, rather than the drive battery. While concept only for now, itll likely not be too long before we see these patrolling our streets very soon.

Ford Police Interceptor An Suv That Hits 150 Mph Is Best

The best-selling police vehicle in America will soon be faster than ever.

In head-to-head testing, the new Ford Explorer-based law enforcement vehicle will be the fastest cop car on the street, according to new preliminary test data from the Michigan State Police based on a 32-lap dynamics test.

The fact that a big SUV can smoke a Hemi Charger around a racetrack is pretty ridiculous, said Chris Terry, Ford product communications spokesman. “The 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is a beast.

When a car blows past you at 120 miles an hour, you need to get that person off the road as quickly as possible in the interest of public safety,” he said.

The Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department tests establish benchmarks that law enforcement agencies all over the country use to evaluate vehicles.

The Dodge Charger had the quickest acceleration at lower speeds 0 to 20 mph, 0 to 30 mph, and 0 to 40 mph. But the Ford Police Interceptor had the best times going 0 to 50 mph, 0 to 60 mph and 0 to 100 mph.

A heavy SUV going faster than a fast sedan in a pursuit ratings test is notable, Terry said.

Michigan State Police drive test data measured time down to hundredths of a second. The results show the Ford Police Interceptor Utility had an average lap time of 1:36:47 while the Dodge Charger finished second at 1:37:11.

Old Police Cars Are Significantly Discounted

Why Ford Dominates The Market For Police Vehicles

Used police cars are often listed for a lesser price than a similar car that hasnât even served in a police department.

The best way to get a deal on these vehicles is to examine auction results for the car you want. Get as much information about any cars of interest prior to the auction. Then perform a thorough inspection of the cars in-person.

Built On Quality Built For Performance

Police cars are manufactured with quality components such as brakes, shocks, fuel lines, and more, each enhanced for great performance and longevity before entering police service. Upgraded suspensions deliver a noticeably smoother ride.

Police vehicles are also designed for high-speed chases, so they come equipped with powerful engines. Old police cars will even have a higher level of performance at high speeds, enabling them to more easily overtake slower-moving vehicles with improved control and handling.

Where To Buy A Police Car

There are two options for attending government surplus auctions. Buyers either have a choice of bidding on vehicles in-person, or choosing to do so online. When choosing the latter, sites like Municibid help buyers find cars based on type, such as police vehicles, and even help them search for items based on their specific location.

Speaking of location, many municipalities advertise their public surplus through government websites. There you can find specific times, prices. contact information, and more.

Not all government surplus will be advertised publicly, as some police departments sell to other departments or sometimes privately to small businesses. One major buyer of police cars happens to be taxi companies who desire vehicles that share aesthetic uniformity and will have the same technical issues instead of multiple different problems. Sometimes dealerships also buy police cars in bulk.

When items are sold publicly, expect to see other everyday citizens, some small business owners, and maybe even a big-name movie producer who needs a police car for his latest flick.

Cost Durability And Strength

Steel wheels are less expensive than alloy wheels, even though alloys have a sleeker, more high-end appearance. As a result, steel wheels are often a better bargain. In addition, steel is more durable than alloy. Steel rims are almost hard to bend or break. Steel rims that are well-maintained with the right sort of paint should last an extended period.

Steel wheels will not be affected by a few dents and scrapes due to their robustness. So even if youre the type of driver who consistently misses a curb, steel wheels are unlikely to require regular maintenance. In addition, steel wheels are less expensive to replace than alloy wheels in the unusual event you need to replace them.

Steel wheels have several advantages, one of which is their weight. On snow and ice, their weight gives additional traction. While no one would dispute that steel rims are only for race cars, they are ideal for heavy-duty work vehicles or vehicles subjected to harsh winter conditions. Some automobile owners carry a spare set of steel wheels in the trunk to use in the winter. In addition, steel wheels shrink less than aluminum in cold conditions, allowing adequate tire pressure to be maintained.

/10 Hybrid Motors Under The Hood

How Much Do Police Cars (Hint: North of $100k) and Other Public

The 3.3L V6 hybrid motor can be used in any Ford vehicle that the police branch needs, from the SUV to the truck. It can produce a combined torque of 322 ft-lbs and pushes out 318 hp. Being a hybrid means that the V6 engine can convert over to using the electric motor when needed, or can combine both forms of propulsion to increase the power when it is required.

The use of both forms of power can give the cruiser a fast jump forward when they need to catch a speeding motorist. From a standstill, the Interceptor can catch up to most vehicles within a matter of minutes. The combination does not help improve the top speed, but that is what radios and helicopters are for if the offender is not caught within the first couple of blocks.

/10 Rear Impact Protection

As mentioned, officers are a target when they are on the streets. Driving or parked, criminals feel the need to strike out at them. Never the best choice, but it is a common occurrence that has been addressed by Ford with the rear crash design. A squad car can take an impact from behind at up to 75 mph.

This design not only keeps the officer safe from attacks from the back, but it helps them when trying to stop harmful drivers. One tactic that they use is to form a box around the car, with a group of cruisers, and slow to a stop. If any impact is taken it will be on the police car in the front, which can easily take the hit without causing any harm to the officer inside. The advanced materials in the back of the vehicle help keep officers safe while in the field, allowing them to go home to their families every night.

Police vehicles in the United States and Canada are produced by several automobile manufacturers, primarily American automakers.

A majority of officially-marketed American and Canadian police vehiclesas in those officially marketed as such by their manufacturerare classified as pursuit packages, which generally denote vehicle models that are capable of handling a majority of police tasks, primarily regular patrol duties but also, as the name implies, pursuits. Other models are often classified as special service packages, which generally denote specialized vehicles designed to fulfill specific tasks or utility roles, such as transport vans, pickup trucks, SWAT vehicles, and sports cars.

Victoria Police Tesla Model X

There is great environmental benefit to electric vehicles and considering our state highway patrol vehicles travel thousands of kilometres on the road per year, we should always be looking at ways we can lessen our impact on the environment.

So say Aussie police about the implentation of a trial Model X. We suspect theres also great benefit to a ginormous, crim-swallowing capsule that can hit 60mph from a standstill in sub three seconds. Those fleeing utes surely stand no chance.

Dealing With Vehicle Cybersecurity Issues

As the major manufacturers rolled out the new generation of police package sedans, a frequently heard comment concerned limited interior space and insufficient room for the equipment officers carry in their car. The smaller interior space was especially challenging when two large officers were assigned a car with the typical array of electronics now commonplace in most patrol vehicles. As agencies were working through their options, SUVs were growing in popularity among the public. This fact wasnt lost on manufacturers and it wasnt long before consideration was given to a police utility vehicle. However, the car manufacturers were not sure law enforcement would embrace the concept.

Nation’s Most Popular Police Car Is Now An Suv

2013 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor SUV in Leawood, KS

The best-selling police car in the U.S. now isn’t a car. It’s an SUV.

The SUV version of Ford’s Police Interceptor, a modified Explorer, just crossed the 50% market share threshold for the first time since it was introduced in 2012, said Ford, based on figures from sales tracking firm IHS Markit.

While making up 51% of overall police vehicle sales through March, the Interceptor SUV has been an even bigger star within Ford’s vehicle lineup for law enforcement agencies — the SUV and a full-size sedan, which is based off the Taurus.

“We projected that the Police Interceptor sedan was going to be roughly 75% of our mix. It flip flopped and the SUV is 75% of our mix,” said Stephen Tyler, Ford’s police brand marketing manager.

In addition to the two models, Ford is also going to offer a hybrid police car — a modified Fusion sedan — to police departments.

Getting police departments to think about SUVs, not cars, was, in retrospect, a bit of a gamble, Tyler said, when the decision was made to heavily promote the police version of the Explorer to departments.

After having a lock on the police market for years with its Crown Victoria sedan, Ford’s sales fell when the gas-guzzling model was discontinued and rivals made a play for the police market with their full-size sedans. General Motors offered the police version of the Chevrolet Caprice and Fiat Chrysler had the Dodge Charger.

“Its been growing so fast,” Tyler said. “We knew we were going to get to this point.”

CORRECTION 10/15/21: The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT police prototype the Michigan State Police tested lost 30 percent of its charge after 18 laps, instead of to 30 percent battery, as originally reported.

Welcome to the United States, where the 301-hp V-6 Toyota Camry thrives and a 470-hp Jeep Wrangler on 35-inch mud-terrain tires reaches 60 mph quicker than a Ford Mustang Mach 1. Sure, helicopters are fast, but somebodys got to meet ol’ Breaky McLawLaw when their crime spree comes to a crashing halt. So whats the best car for the job?

Although the law enforcement profession is far more dynamic than just high-speed emergency responses, many departments require their vehicles to meet whats called a “purchasing spec.” Vehicles must meet certain requirements to be eligible for patrol but still have enough performance to be effective when responding to more dangerous situations.

The MSP also told us they expect more fully electric police vehicles next year, as more automakers continue to focus their efforts on a battery-powered future. A more in-depth look at the MSP’s testing data will become available later this month.
